Respiratory Therapist Profile
Respiratory Therapists work in hospital, clinical care and community care settings as part of a multidisciplinary health-care team in order to provide the best patient care. Hospital settings include Intensive Care Units (ICU), Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Emergency Departments, Critical Care Units, and other hospital wards. Community Care settings include Home Oxygen Suppliers. Opportunities to grow as a Respiratory Therapist include taking advanced courses to work in specialized areas, and pursuing management and leadership positions.
Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
In order to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Saskatchewan, individuals are required to have;
- Hold a Diploma in Respiratory Therapy
- Be registered or eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory
Therapists - Be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of
Respiratory Therapists

Respiratory Therapist
$34.64 – $47.14
Respiratory Therapist Senior
$41.73 – $50.91
Respiratory Therapist Supervisor
$45.07 – $54.99
*The union membership of most Respiratory Therapists in public practice is the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan. The above hourly rates include the Base, Market Supplement and Market Adjustment. The Collective Agreement is for the period April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2024, and will continue to be in effect until a new Collective Agreement is finalized.
