Carrot River -
Saskatchewan's Outback

The history of Carrot River is one of the modern pioneer that begins in the 1930s, of perseverance and growth that lead to incorporation in 1948, and of economic booms into the 1960s. This all culminated into the town we know today, full of resilience, and perseverance.

Carrot River continues to thrive with mainstay industries in agriculture, peat moss and lumber. In 2015 Carrot River was branded as Saskatchewan’s OUTBACK, speaking to the land, rivers, forest and lakes surrounding the area as well as the tenacious and resilient spirit of the people past and present. Fringing the Pasquia Hills, rivers, Tobin Lake and the boreal forest, Carrot River truly is Saskatchewan’s OUTBACK. Life here is connected with nature… we live, play, and work with and among the land.
