Radiation Therapist Profile

Radiation Therapists are in high demand in Saskatchewan. Cancer services are provided by the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency primarily in Saskatoon and Regina. The province’s Radiation Therapy department delivers various types of radiation techniques, including: stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, total body irradiation (TBI), and pediatric radiation oncology.

In order to practice as a Radiation Therapist I in Saskatchewan, individuals are required to have;

  • Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
  • Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C
  • Licensed with The College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Professionals of Saskatchewan (CMRIPS)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
 

In order to practice as a Radiation Therapist II in Saskatchewan, in addition to the Radiation Therapist I qualifications, individuals are required to have;

  • Three (3) years experience as a qualified Radiation Therapist

In order to practice as a Radiation Therapist I in Saskatchewan, individuals are required to have;

C$54.01 – $61.72
US$39.31 – $44.92

Radiation Therapist II
C$55.58 – $63.62
US$40.45 – $46.30

*The union membership of most Radiation Therapists with the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency is the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union. The above hourly rates include the Base and Market Supplement. The Collective Agreement is for the period April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2024, and will continue to be in effect until a new Collective Agreement is finalized.
